Irving Gateways at Firwood and Constantia

I love these stone gateway features at the Constantia/Irving and Firwood/Irving intersections. On Constantia, there are two of them. At Firwood there is one on the east side of the intersection. There is not one on the west side of the intersection, but the UD Shroyer Park Center sign complements it with like materials. The column on Firwood used to have flowers on top, but the planter was negleted and removed. Sometimes, people sit on that column while waiting for the bus (there is a bus stop at that corner).

I assume that the gateway featrues were there from the time the plat was first developed.
